A friend recently asked me to design her a chicory tattoo, and I’ve been taken by the plant since. Last summer it grew all around my house and I studied its colors deeply. It’s a wonderful plant, edible and medicinal, a weed to some and a delicacy to others. Its vibrant blues are unmistakable, and I loved trying to capture them against this deep rust linen.

In keeping with the Stitch Sketch tradition, this is a study for a larger piece. I wanted to see how the chicory colors worked with white yarrow, and I love it! :)
