Young Maple
Chainstitch Embroidery on grey canvas
12”x14”
The fades of the maple trees in autumn up here are just begging to be stitched, in my opinion! After spending so much time on individual leaves, it’s been a natural progression to stitch whole trees now.
The grey lines are meant to represent light on the water. So often in the fall the sunlight through the patchy clouds acts as a spotlight, lighting up certain areas dramatically.
This is meant to be part of an ongoing series in which I release a couple of small chainstitched wall hanging every week. They are sketches of ideas, meditations on concepts, beginnings of paths. Some will turn into bigger pieces, maybe even series, but this is a platform for me to experiment with new ideas.
