STITCH SKETCH: Trillium
STITCH SKETCH: Trillium
Trillium
Chainstitch Embroidery on Fresh Water Textiles Canvas
11.5” x 15”
Oh Trillium, you magical spring beacon, you are difficult to capture in stitch! This is the first stitch sketch I haven’t finished in one sitting, which is kind of the opposite of the point of the stitch sketch! But I learned a lot, and THAT is definitely the point. I worked on both the back and front of this piece in order to get the shimmering of the leaves to happen. I wanted to portray the blue tones that are present in Trillium, under the forest canopy and deep in the woods.
This is meant to be part of an ongoing series in which I release a couple of small chainstitched wall hanging every week. They are sketches of ideas, meditations on concepts, beginnings of paths. Some will turn into bigger pieces, maybe even series, but this is a platform for me to experiment with new ideas.
Thanks y’all. :)
