Prickly Pear
Chainstitch Embroidery on Fresh Water Textile Linen
18” x 18”
Prickly pear, you confound me! I have been studying you and plotting ways to capture your brilliance on every desert hike I’ve taken recently. The way you reflect light with your paddles is pure magic. How do you contain sooo many colors of greenbluegreypurple at once?
This is probably one attempt of many future attempts to portray the magic of the prickly pear. I think I got somewhere, here, but I have a lot more to discover about this wild plant!
This is meant to be part of an ongoing series in which I release a couple of small chainstitched wall hanging every week. They are sketches of ideas, meditations on concepts, beginnings of paths. Some will turn into bigger pieces, maybe even series, but this is a platform for me to experiment with new ideas.
Also how dreamy is this Fresh Water Textile Linen??
Thanks y’all. :)
