Stitch Sketch: Moonlit Ocotillo

Chainstitch Embroidery on Linen

18” x 18”

Springtime in West Texas means Ocotillo blooms. These wild plants always astonish me with their underwater sea creature vibes, though they sometimes grow out of straight rock. I wanted to experiment a bit with some nighttime mountains in the background, and I think the color scheme here ended up very “masculine”, which is a departure for me. These stitch sketches remain a lovely way for me to incorporate what I’ve been learning on hikes into my art.
