August is blackberry time here in Michigan. I go picking every morning. When I close my eyes, I see blackberries, literally. I’m making blackberry crisp and compote and syrup and mocktails. My arms are full of thorn cuts and mosquito bites and it’s worth it.
I think this won’t be my last attempt at capturing the variegated beauty of the blackberry bramble, but I’m off to a good start. The popping blacks and pinks have just been begging me to stitch them. I was pleasantly surprised at how galactic they ended up looking!
