Acrylic and Chainstitch Embroidery on Stretched Canvas
I am spellbound by the evenings and mornings when the lake and sky are inseparable. It’s so dramatic and endless, like you’re floating through some sort of Earthly space. Here, I am interested in what the native Yarrow thinks of these times.
I would be remiss to think that the wildfires of last year are not lending themselves to my current obsession with orange skies. Climate change is clearly on my mind. It doesn’t feel dire when I’m painting; rather, it feels magical and dream-like. But perhaps this is my way of processing grief and sorrow for our planet, for our species. I am very conscious while painting and stitching of my gratitude for every yarrow that emerges, every plant that is still here with us. This is my way to honor them, to thank them.
