Thanks to my mothers-in-law, this is one of my favorite views. My husband and I live in their casita in Alpine, TX every spring, and this is the glorious view from the porch. Those West Texas morning moonsets are out of this world, and I’ll never tire of trying to capture and recreate their mystery.
This paintstitch took me almost a year to complete. I painted it last spring while living out there, and then stitched the mountains months later back in Michigan. It hung half finished in my studio, untouched for months at a time. Every once in a while an idea would strike me, and I’d add on to it. This is not at all the usual way I work, but it was lovely to have this companion along with me for such a long time.
